Xlight FTP Server is an application for creating an FTP Server for Windows based systems.
Once the server is created, users settings can be saved in the Active Directory or in the LDAP directory server, so user can be authenticated with the Active Directory data or against the LDAP directory server.

Also, users settings and passwords can be saved in external databases (and data can be retireved later) by ODBC connections. So, the program makes easier the connection and integration of data base applications.

Supporting SFTP protocol, the application allows the creation of SFTP virtual servers.

Data transfers and sessions can be protected by 128-bit SSL encryption rules.

Whenever an upload or download is performed, or disk space low event occurs, or a delete operation is detected, the application automatically sends an email message as a notification. Sessions and errors are automatically logged with all the details. The transfers logs can also be stored in the external databases through ODBC.

The created FTP server can work in 'impersonation' mode for accessing password protected shares and accounts.

Every user has his(her) own virtual path, different from the other users, and never can see other paths, withou the need of locking users.

The Server can be remotely managed from any FTP control port that is open.

The FTP server can work with many virtual servers, using the same IP address. The different configurations changes will be automatically applied in real time, without the need of restarting the server.

During data transfers, data is compressed in real time without any user interaction.

Awful program. I can't believe I wasted so much time on it - and I never got it to work. This seems odd, as I've been working with computers for the last 20 years. I think the latest release (v3.3) has a bug which means that the PASV port forwarding does not stick to the range that you set it to. This makes it useless in practice.

Awful, horrible little program. I spent two weeks trying to get it work, gave up in disgust and had another program working within 10 minutes. Its about as useful as a car with one wheel.
